Vulvodynia – Bladder Pain Syndrome/Interstitial Cystitis

Legal Matters

Working with chronic urogenital pain conditions presents unique challenges. From the patient perspective it is to have their pain recognised as real, from the clinicians perspective to have the therapy recognised as helpful and appropriate, even in the absence of a gold standard.

I have welcomed the outcome of the recent Health and Community Services Complaints Commission (HCSCC) Inquiry into my credentials and protocols. The process was an extensive and comprehensive one. The full report can be viewed online.

I continue to work in as transparent a manner as I can, by publishing, speaking at meetings and conferences, providing workshops and clinical training. My resolution continues to be to hold the interests of the patients first and foremost in my clinical work.
